This list is by no means all inclusive, but is a sampling of the area’s attractions.  Watauga Lake is a rare, wild and beautiful place. It is located in the northeastern corner of Tennessee and is flanked by the Appalachian Mountains. Watauga Lake is reputed to be the third cleanest lake in the U.S. and is approximately 16 miles long with about 105 miles of shoreline. The depth of the lake reaches almost 300 feet at it’s deepest point. It is home to several species of game fish and is a haven for water sports of all types. Houseboats, sailboats, ski and wakeboard boats all have their place on Watauga Lake.   Buildable land is limited as over one half of the lake’s shoreline is bordered by the Cherokee National Forest.
